Nordlys, known as Aurora Signal Norway in English, turns complex space weather and local forecasts into a clear guide for seeing the northern lights in Norway. Activity, cloud cover, darkness, fog, precipitation, temperature and wind come together in one calm, visual experience.

Explore tonight hour by hour and drag across the chart to see when conditions improve or fade. Animated weather scenes reflect the forecast, while the best estimated viewing window helps you decide when to head outside.

Start with Tromsø, Alta, Svolvær, Senja or Kirkenes. Search for places across Norway, use your current location while travelling, or explore the full-screen map to compare selected destinations.

Follow favourite places and individual nights, choose how selective alerts should be, and receive local notifications based on the latest forecast saved on your iPhone. Opening the app regularly keeps forecasts and planned alerts fresh; background updates depend on iOS.

Look further ahead with detailed short-range forecasts and a broader 27-day outlook. Explore historical geomagnetic patterns back to 1932 and compare seasons, months and places before planning a trip.

The 0–100 conditions index is guidance, not a measured probability or a promise of visible aurora. Terrain, light pollution and aurora low on the horizon are not fully modelled. The longer outlook and historical patterns are less precise than tonight’s forecast.

No account is required. Saved places, followed nights and alert preferences stay on your device. There are no ads or cross-app tracking, and optional usage analytics remain off until you allow them. Nordlys supports English and Norwegian.
